Clarissa (Chris) Nielsen Giles passed away Sept 20, 1993 at the home of Allen and Linda Giles in Riverton, after a long illness caused by strokes.
Chris was born Feb. 23, 1918 in South Jordan, Utah, a daughter of James and Mary Goff Nielsen. Married Clarence W. (Bolley) Giles Sept. 6, 1939 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Her love was her family, church and a desire to help others enjoy life. Active in church assignments, including Primary, Relief Society, Sunday School, and temple ordinance worker. Also, she served on the Old Folks Committee, committee to serve winter residents in Yuma, Arizona for 15 years; worked in Scouting, Daughters of Utah Pioneers and in the PTA.
Survived by her husband, Clarence (Bolley), Riverton; daughter, Mary Lou (Larry) Mangum, Sacramento, California; son, Allen (Linda) Giles, Riverton; 11 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; brother, Allen (Fern) Nielsen, Kearns; sisters, Donna Drommond, Bountiful; Geneva Page, Sandy; Coral (Doug) Peisley, Riverton; Arlean (Neldon) Walters, American Fork; sister-in-law, Verbena Nielsen, Kearns; also many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by parents; son, James C. (Big Red); sister, Beth Tufte Bodell; brother, Joseph Nielsen.
Funeral services Friday, September 24, 1993, 11 a.m. in the Riverton 1st LDS Ward Chapel, 1855 West 13400 South. Friends may call at Goff Mortuary, 8090 So. State, Thursday 6-8 p.m. and Friday at the church from 9:45-10:45 a.m. Interment, South Jordan City Cemetery.
