Obituary - Russel Earl Frew

RUSSELL EARL FREW

Russell Earl Frew, age 64, passed away Thursday, October 5, 1995.

He was born January 9, 1931 in Salt Lake City, a son of Ronald Earl and Julia Ednetta Frew. On April 13, 1980 he married Susie V. Rivera. He was a restaurant proprietor for 35 years. His hobbies included fishing and bowling.He is survived by his wife, three sons, Bryan and Gregory, West Valley; Kenneth Halander, Germany; five daughters, Gayla (Randy) Anderson, Ogden; Sherrie (Randal) Willden, West Valley; Lori (Kelly) Hiatt, Peoria, Arizona; Karen Halander (Dave) Kuipers, Sandy; Tina (Vern) Hoodak, Port St. Lucie, Florida; 14 grandchildren, one great-granddaughter, a brother, Donald (Lucky), Aurora, Colorado; and a sister, Muriel (Davis) Webb, Salt Lake. He is preceded in death by both parents, and a daughter, Jackie Lynn.

Graveside services will be held Tuesday, October 10, 1 p.m. at the Veterans Memorial State Park (Camp Williams), 17000 So. Redwood Rd. Services under the direction of Heritage Funeral Service.

Obituary - Joseph Johnson Doty

DOTY -- Joseph Johnson Doty, 51, died Thursday at a local hospital following a lingering illness. Mr. Doty was born at Farmington, Iowa, February 16, 1875, the son of Jedediah and Hannah Doty, but had been a Salt Lake resident for over ten years.

Survivors include His wife, Sarah Draper Doty; five children, Mrs. Ednetta Frew, Ellen, Fay and Delvar Doty, Salt Lake; Mrs. Elladene Walters of Murray; stepchildren, Lyle Remington, Vernal; Mrs. Gertrude Murdock, Edna and Earl Remington, Salt Lake; also five grandchildren. Funeral Arrangements will be announced later.

Obituary - Edith May Goff Bennion

Edith May Bennion

Edith May Bennion, 62, of 1845 McClelland Street, died at 4:50 a.m. Tuesday in a Salt Lake hospital.

She was born in West Jordan on January 14, 1884, a daughter of Hyrum and Marinda Bateman Goff.

She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Her husband, David K. Bennion preceded her in death.

She is survived by two sons and two daughters, David G. Bennion of Salt Lake, Hyrum Bennion of Los Angeles, California, Edna Bennion of Salt Lake, Vandis B. Seal of Salt Lake, seven grandchildren, two brothers, Harvey Goff of Copperton, Alma Goff of Salt Lake; four sisters, Mrs. Mary Nielsen of Riverton, Mrs. Clara Wilson of Provo, Mrs. Millie Smith of Midvale, Mrs. Clarissa Warner in Missouri.

Funeral services will be announced later from 36 East Seventh South St.

RIVERTON--James Nielsen, 75, 13480 S. 1700 West, died Wednesday 11:30 p.m. at his home of natural causes. Born Aug. 23, 1884, Sandy, to Soren and Karen Sorensen Nielsen. Married Mary Goff March 13, 1913, Salt Lake Temple, Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She died 1956.

Survivors: sons, daughters: Joseph J., Allen G., Kearns; Mrs. Julian (Beth) Tufte, Mrs. Clarence (Clarissa) Giles, Mrs. Hugh (Donna) Drommond, Mrs. Douglas (Coral) Peisley, Riverton; Mrs. Henry (Geneva) Page, Drapers; Mrs. Neldon (Arlean) Walters, American Fork; 24 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; brothers, sisters: Hans, Soren. South Jordan; Mrs. John (Annie) Smith, Crescent; Mrs. Charles (Nett) Cornforth, Aberdeen, Idaho.

Obituary - Donna Marie Nielsen Drommond

Donna Marie Nielsen Drommond

1920 ~ 2008

A true Saint; left her 88 year old mortal body behind on March 30, 2008 after having a stroke. Mom was born to Mary Goff and James Nielsen on February 14, 1920 in South Jordan, Utah. Her family included: Beth, Joseph James, Clarissa, herself, Mary Geneva, Coral, Allen Goff, and Arlean Mae. On the family farm she grew to be wise, strong, humble, and beautiful. She excelled in school, skipping a grade and graduating from Jordan High. Married Hugh Cameron Drommond and later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple. Being a life long member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she was Relief Society President for eight years in the Riverton 1st Ward. Various other callings came her way that she always performed with extra love. "Hughie", her husband, was called "Mr. MIA" and mom was "Mrs. MIA" when they served together. Great cook, baker, and artistic quilter were only some of her many talents. We are honored to call her mother.

Nadine (Michael Lynn McKee), Arline (late Richard Alan Draper), David Edward Drommond (Marjorie Low), Debra (late David Snell Cartwright). 15 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.

Mom truly did endure to the end and provided to us eternal blessings. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, April 4, 2008 at the Bountiful Tabernacle, 51 South Main. Friends and family may call Thurs. evening from 6-8 p.m. at Russon Brothers Bountiful Mortuary, 295 North Main and Friday morning 9:45-10:45 a.m. at the church prior to services. Interment-South Jordan Cemetery.

Obituary - Maria T. Arnold Goff

MARIA T. GOFF

Maria T. Goff, 77, widow of the late Hyrum Goff, died Tuesday at 4:45 p.m. at the family residence in Midvale, following a brief illness of heart trouble.

Mrs. Goff, daughter of John and Clarissa Arnold, was born in Midvale, May 1, 1853, one of the first children born in that part of Salt Lake valley. Besides Mrs. Goff in the Arnold family there were two sons, Joseph and Orson P. Arnold, and two daughters, Ellen and Melissa Arnold.

For many years Mrs. Goff was active in the L. D. S. Primary organization. Later she was identified with Relief society work, and during the time her husband was president of the Jordan stake, she was one of the presidency in stake Relief society work. Before the time of undertakers, she was outstanding in ministering to the sick and caring for the dead.

Mrs. Goff is survived by six sons and daughters: Clifford I. Goff of Midvale; George A. Goff and Alma A. Goff of Salt Lake. Mrs. Ella A. Hallstrom of Rexburg, Idaho; Mrs. Melissa L. Smith of Midvale and Mrs. Clarissa L. Warner of Herculaneum, Mo., and 29 grandchildren. The late Harold Goff, former editor of The Deseret News, was a son.

In addition to her own family. Mrs. Goff reared six children of the former wife of her husband. Those who survive of this group are as follows: Mrs. Clara Wilson, Mrs. Edna Call, Mrs. Edith Bennion. Mrs. Mary Nielson and Harry Goff.

Funeral arrangements await word from the daughter in Missouri.

Obituary - Hazel Nell Young Walters Sullivan

Services for Hazel Nell Young Walters Sullivan, 85, 4757 Plum St., Murray will be held tomorrow (Friday) noon at Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary, 4760 So. State. Friends may call Thursday from 6-8 p.m. and tomorrow an hour prior to services. Burial in Murray City Cemetery. She died Monday in a local hospital of natural causes.

Born June 6, 1886 in Fairview to Robert Alma and Desdemona Brown Young. Married to Joseph C. Walters on Oct. 11, 1904 in Murray. Married to Samuel Sullivan on Feb. 5, 1930 in Salt Lake; later solemnized in Salt Lake LDS Temple. He died in 1953. Member of Murray 2nd LDS ward, DUP and Daughters of American Revolution.

Survivors, sons, daughters, Joseph Franklin, Orem; Arland, Mrs. Desdemona Collard, both of Murray; Mrs. Guy (Pearl) Terrell, Delta; Raymona A., Salt Lake; 15 grand children; 55 great-grandchildren; 10 step-grandchildren; sister, Mrs. Goldie Wale, Murray; half sisters, Mrs. Faye Kranich, Portland, Ore.; Mrs. M. Nellie Fox, Fairview.

Obituary - Hazel Pearl Walters

Pearl W. Terrell

Hazel Pearl Walters Terrell, age 91, passed away May 20, 2001 in Delta. Born August 22, 1909 in Millcreek to Joseph C. and Hazel Nell Young Walters. Married Guy Hutchinson Terrell March 20, 1929 in Salt Lake Temple. He died Dec. 3, 1991.

Excellent homemaker and cook. Proud of children and loved being with them. Active member LDS Church. Served as Primary President. Taught her children the gospel by example. Remembered for soprano voice. Sang with Relief Society "Singing Mothers" and in trios. Charter member and President of PTA in Las Vegas. President East Millard Fine Arts Guild and Jolly Stitchers Club in Delta. Proud of pioneer heritage. Worked side by side with husband at Terrell Meats. Loved and revered by children and grandchildren and will be greatly missed.

Survived by children: Vilda Faye (Jed) Johnson, Orem; Stephen Guy Terrell, Fillmore; Nila Rae Hogan, Max Walters (Claudia) Terrell, Clark Walters (Nina) Terrell, all Delta; Kathleen Kay (Richard) Knight, Spanish Fork; 28 grandchildren; 73 great-grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren.

Preceded in death by three grandchildren; one great-great granddaughter; four brothers; one sister.

Funeral services Wednesday May 23, 2001, 2 p.m., Delta 5th Ward. Friends call at Nickle Mortuary, Delta, Tuesday 7-8 p.m. and at Church, Wednesday 12:30-1:40 p.m. Burial Fillmore Cemetery.

Raymond Alma Walters

Raymond Alma Walters, age 79, passed away October 22, 1991 in Salt Lake City.

He was born December 5, 1911 in Murray, Utah to Joseph Carlisle and Hazel Nell Young Walters. Married Mildred Anderson May 12, 1938; later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He was retired from the Garrett Freight Lines. Member of the Teamsters Union Local #222. An avid sportsman, he loved fishing and hunting.

Survived by his wife, Salt Lake City; son, Kent Raymond Walters, Salt Lake City. He was like a father to many. He loved his three grandchildren, Brandon, Ryan, and Colton, all West Valley; one sister, Mrs. Guy (Pearl) Terrell, Delta; many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Friday, 2 p.m., Cannon 7th Ward, 934 West Freemont Avenue. Friends may call at Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary, 4760 South State, Thursday, 6-8 p.m. and Friday, at the church, one hour prior to services. Interment, Murray City Cemetery.

Obituary - Joseph Carlisle Walters

Joseph Carlisle Walters

Joseph Carlisle Walters, 57, 4260 South Fourth West street, died Tuesday at 3 a.m. in a local hospital, after a major operation.

Mr. Walters was born in Murray August 11, 1881, a son of Joseph W. and Isabel Carlisle Walters and had lived in Salt Lake county all his life. He was a laborer.

Surviving are four sons, Joseph F., Carlisle, Arland and Raymond A. Walters of Salt Lake City; two daughters, Mrs. Guy Ferrell of Las Vegas, Nev., and Miss Desdemona Walters of Murray; four brothers, Roland C., Cyrus S., William B., and Ferry W. Walters; four sisters, Mrs. Amber Hill, Mrs. Coral Brown, Mrs. Ruby Woolsey and Mrs. Opal Olsen of Salt Lake City, and 11 grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. at 4760 South State street by Alma M. Cornwall, bishop of the Mill Creek L.D.S. ward. Burial will be in Elysian Burial Gardens.
