Obituary - Lewis Walters

Lewis "Curley" Walters passed away March 28, 2022, age 81, March 28, 2022 in Murray, Utah. He was born December 28, 1940 to Joseph Franklin Walters and Elladene Doty in Murray, Utah. He married his love, Janet Rigby, on November 23, 1962 in Springville, Utah.

Lewis loved to camp, fish, hunt, and search for gold. Weekends were spent with family in either the Uinta Mountains, West Desert, or Manti-La Sal Mountains. He also enjoyed trips to Wendover and in the last year, trips to visit Mary in Wells, Nevada.

Camping always consisted of not only fishing, but also motorcycle riding, and horseshoe games. He worked as a Foreman for Gate City Steel, Steelco, and Silver Steel. He also worked as a mechanic with his older brothers and worked with horses when he was a young boy in Orem.

Next to Janet, his next love was his 1965 Mercury Cyclone. He drove it off the lot brand new. He babied the car and could be found in the garage waxing and dusting the car. He would take the car out only if the weather was good, and show it off at local car shows.

Lewis is survived by his children: Mary Dene (David) Potter, Wells, Nevada, Wendy Lee (Michael) Groves, Tooele, Utah, sister, Karen (Don) Larson; 4 Grandchildren, 7 Great Grandchildren. He was also the adoptive father and grandfather to the children of Roy and Lorraine Bartell. He was preceded in death by his wife, Janet, (passed on March 6, 2021), parents, 4 brothers and 3 sisters.

In honor of Lewis, a viewing will be Monday, April 11, 2022 from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at Valley View Funeral Home, 4335 West 4100 South, West Valley. Graveside services will be Monday, April 11, 2022, 11:00 am at Valley View Memorial Park.
