Helen Walters Crabtree 1918 ~ 2004

Helen Walters Crabtree, age 86, passed away December 16, 2004, in Salt Lake City, Utah. She was born November 13, 1918, in Murray, Utah to Cyrus Sharp Walters and Edith Curtis. She graduated from Murray High School, participated in many musical productions while there and enjoyed the time spent with her peers. Helen was a beautiful and talented young woman who found joy in sharing her talents with everyone. She married William Simsich, October 9, 1940, and was later divorced. She married George Wallace (Wally) Crabtree on August 9, 1947, later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple. They enjoyed 57 years of marriage before her passing. Helen was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She served in the Primary and Sunday School organizations and talked often of the joy she felt from her visiting teaching sisters. She especially enjoyed the time she spent wishing "Happy Birthday" to ward members. Helen had a sincere love of horses and enjoyed many years riding with the Silver Spurs. She and Wally cherished years of traveling in their motor home between Montana, Cherry Hills and Yuma, Arizona. Their friendships and experiences led to hours of happy reminiscing that always stirred Helen's desire to return to the RV life.

Helen is survived by her husband, Wally, daughters Nancy Fender, Judy (Virgil) Smock and son, Richard (Carolyn) Crabtree, 14 grandchildren, 55 great-grandchildren and four great, great grandchildren. Preceded in death by her parents, her sister, Jeanne Maynes, and little brothers, Lynn and Cyrus Walters.

Funeral Services will be held Monday, December 20, 2004, 11:00 a.m., at the Ridgedale Ward, 3487 South 13th East. The family will receive friends Sunday December 19, 2004, 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Wasatch Lawn Mortuary, 3401 Highland Drive, Salt Lake City, Utah and 9:45-10:45 a.m. at the Ridgedale ward prior to services. Interment will be held at the Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park.

Helen's family is thankful for the blessings and peace received from serving their mother during a very trying season of her life.
